Depoconchophobia

Depoconchophobia is a rare phobia that a person is fear of putting the phone receiver down despite the fact that the phone has been ringing endlessly. The caller is always convinced that someone picked up just as he/she replaced the receiver.
This happens especially when the person is put on hold for too long over the automated answering machine that keeps saying, ” You are now caller number XX, please continue to hold…”. Well, many of us would continue to hold on until the cows come home fearing that someone would just pick up the phone the same time we put down or to be put on queue endlessly again.
